If you're looking for a way to grow your business, build credibility, and reach the right audience—without battling social media algorithms or spending thousands on ads—guest podcasting must be on your radar.

This week on my LinkedIn Live, we discussed using guest podcasting as a visibility strategy. After being a guest on over 20 podcasts in the past year, I’ve seen firsthand how powerful it can be to position yourself as an expert and attract new opportunities.

Let’s break down the key takeaways. You can watch the full replay above or on YouTube if you missed the live session.

Why Guest Podcasting Works

Podcasting is booming, and the numbers don’t lie. There are over 500 million podcasts out there, covering every niche imaginable. Even more importantly, 68% of podcast listeners have purchased a product or service after hearing about it on a podcast. That means if you’re not tapping into this space, you’re missing a huge opportunity to connect with potential clients.

But here’s the best part—you don’t have to start your own podcast to see results. Being a guest on established shows allows you to leverage existing audiences, share your expertise, and build relationships that can lead to real business growth.

How to Find the Right Podcasts for Your Brand

Not all podcasts are created equal, and your goal isn’t just to get on any show—it’s to get on the “right” shows. You want to connect with hosts whose audiences align with your ideal clients. Here’s how to start:

  • Search Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Listen Notes, or Podchaser for industry-related topics.
  • Use LinkedIn and Facebook groups to find podcast hosts in your niche.
  • Check guest appearances of industry leaders—if they’ve been on a show, it’s likely relevant to your audience.
  • Try AI tools like ChatGPT to generate a list of potential podcasts based on your industry and expertise.

Once you have a solid list, it’s time to start pitching.

How to Craft a Winning Podcast Pitch

If you want to get booked on a podcast, you need a strong pitch. Here’s what works:

  • Make it personal. Mention a specific episode you enjoyed and why.
  • Lead with value. Explain how your expertise will benefit their audience.
  • Keep it short and clear. No one wants to read a novel.
  • Include a professional one-sheet. This should have your bio, headshot, and 3-5 suggested topics.

I shared examples of real email pitches during the live session—so if you need a template, be sure to watch the replay!

Nailing Your Interview & Maximizing the Opportunity

Landing the interview is just the beginning. To make the most of it, keep these tips in mind:

  • Be prepared, but don’t sound scripted.** Have key points ready, but let the conversation flow naturally.
  • Tell engaging stories.** People remember stories, not just facts.
  • Have a strong call to action.** Where should listeners go next? A lead magnet, free consultation, or specific offer works best.

Turning Podcast Appearances into Long-Term Business Growth

The biggest mistake I see? People do the interview and move on. Instead, repurpose that content across multiple platforms:

  • Share clips on social media
  • Write a blog post summarizing key takeaways (like this one!)
  • Include the link in your email newsletter
  • Use AI tools like Descript to create short-form content from your interview

This strategy extends the life of your podcast appearances and helps you reach more people over time.
